February 28, 2008 - John McCain criticizes Bill Cunningham for being Bill Cunningham. If McCain didn't like how Bill Cunningham talks day in and day out then why was Bill Cunningham doing warm-up for him in Ohio? The National Republican Party now censures the Tennessee Republican Party for using the middle name of Borak Obama and issues an edict for all to follow this order... To hell with John McCain; if he can't find words to allow for Bill Cunningham it means he can't deal with the conservative point of view. John McCain doesn't have me in his pocket; I can't appreciate any value he might bring to the presidency... Enough!

February 27, 2008 - William F. Buckely, Jr. has passed. He shall remain atop the list of many great conservative thinkers; a man who talked about ideas... Name one person who could qualify as a great Liberal, or progressive (if you must), thinker; someone who actually talks about ideas!

February 24, 2008 - Emotion has no “IQ”… Is this the secret to understanding current political culture? Is it the overriding reason why the Constitution must be followed as it is written? During the middle to late 1960’s, management gurus started to discuss the effects of emotions in the workplace. “EQ”, as opposed to “IQ”, is now accepted as a reference to emotional response and considered to be an employee satisfaction measurement tool. Emotions in the workplace (most often referred to as complaining) are often the result of frustration caused by an inability of an individual to get an idea or thought, [they are passionate about], across to management.

At the time, along about 1968, the Liberal wing of the Democrat Party seized upon this notion, realizing that relieving or, “playing to”, someone’s pain and suffering could bring great rewards in the way of “votes”. Strategists got together and were so enamored with the idea that they went one step farther; they were not only going to pander to pain and suffering, and see to it that it continued, but they would also “create” even more pain and suffering! Ergo, inner-city poverty, high health care costs via trial attorneys, promoting the "single mom" and the "poor teacher" syndromes, etc., etc., etc. Yes, emotion has no “I.Q. and that is just fine with Democrat elitists and pandering Blue-blood Republicans who feel the only way they can stay in office is not “reaching across the aisle”, but "running across the aisle!

February 21, 2008 - New York Times / John McCain / Liberalism... Ok, does that set the table? Here's the story... First it must be understood that real Liberals, like real Conservatives, do in fact have differing mindsets; duh! My point is that Liberals don't sit around and do all that much planning on how to "get" a Republican. Sure Liberals talk and share their dreams over cocktails, but their conversations are just repeating each other and agreeing with each other. With that said let me take you back to the beginning months of the primary. The New York Times supported John McCain, even though their recent lambasting of McCain was in the "can". They supported him because he was the lesser of two evils; McCain being more Liberal than Romney. When Romney got out it was time to start bagging McCain. How else do you explain keeping the story in the can while printing their support for McCain; and how does McCain respond? He is disappointed! Senator, you have a reputation for anger-- If you are as innocent as you say you are, you damn well should be showing some of that anger over this story - like any innocent man would do... "Disappointed; give me a break!

February 20, 2008 - "I am tired to death of people telling me who is and who is not conservative, " Lawrence Eagleburger said, referring to conservative talk show hosts. Here we go again; another Republican blue-blood mouthing off... Once again I will say it---- Limbaugh, Hannity and others say what many of us think... We do not think what Limbaugh, Hannity and others tell us to think! News flash; criticize someone who is saying what others think and you are criticizing the others. The more [those people] tell us we are stupid, the more likely it becomes for John McCain to have problems in November... The blue-bloods are creating a much larger whole in their "big tent" then what has existed previously... They better do some number crunching and get their crap together! Conservatives, or whatever you want to call us, are probably all set to support McCain, but the blue-bloods won't leave it alone. They should just shut up til after the election; nuff said!

February 19, 2008 - Will the November election be [it] for the Republican blue-bloods? "Calm down", John McCain tells us (Conservatives)... George Bush, the elder, doesn't see why we (Conservatives) don't understand why we [can't] see that John McCain is one of the most Conservative members of the Senate. On and on goes this kind of rhetoric from our "big tent", so called brethren". Instead of finding words that make us feel better about voting for John McCain, the Republican establishment chooses to instead prove why they are indeed referred to as blue-bloods; they actually believe they are "blue-bloods". The blue-bloods have been disregarding the best interests of this nation for years by pandering for votes and they can't figure out how to pander to a base of [their] party that, at some point soon, may well overwhelm them... Local blue-blood politicians, this means you too! So be it!

February 14, 2008 - The Party's, they are a-changing... This election year [is] the beginning of the end of a political era. In the near future we'll hear that; "political party elitism is dead, long live political party elitism"; we'll be hearing it from Blacks and Conservatives. Much has been written concerning the phenomenon of human behavior that associates itself with the notion that "if you go too far in any one direction, you suffer the downside of that direction"; or, more simply stated, "what goes around, comes around"! In the Democrat Party, in-charge elitists since the 1960's have been creating various groups who will vote for them in return for government hand-outs. One such group, the black community, sees a legitimate opportunity to have it all and are coming out in droves to vote for Obama. They don't need Hillary. Kerry knows it. Kennedy knows it; and Hillary is feeling it! In the Republican Party, the process is getting off to a little slower start. The elitists there have chosen the non-conservative McCain and although Conservatives were slow to complain they understand that their future is bright; when what Rush Limbaugh says is the topic of nightly headline news, the movement is gaining ground.

February 12, 2008 - Have you ever heard a supposedly intelligent person respond to the typical media on-the-street question; "who are you voting for"? The answer often is; "I don't follow party lines, I vote for the individual!" This response not only typifies ignorance of how a party platform is more meaningful than a candidates spin(lies), but identifies a huge voting block that can be captured; by Conservatives! Think about it; can Liberals make a case for educating unselfish, reasonable thinking people to vote Democrat?

February 8, 2008 - Romney was the Limbaugh/Hannity choice for president and if McCain loses it's all the fault of talk-radio; hog wash! People who are not conservatives will never understand what it means to be a "conservative"; never... Even the "established" party faithful don't know what it means. Non-conservatives think Rush Limbaugh tells people what to think; nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is, Rush is what he is because of conservatives not the opposite. Rush is our voice speaking what we think; albeit much more artfully. And Romney? He was no more than a means to an end- a "conservative" end; he was the best thing going at the time. As far as real conservatives are concerned, Romney may or may not be the best candidate for president the next time around; established Republican Party be damned!

January 13, 2008 - Battle Creeks' own Joe Schwarz decries Republicans saying "The party left me, as an organization, long ago." I'm thinking Joe got things backwards... I too, like Joe, am old. Now, I don't know how Joe started out but I started out as a Democrat. In 1968, pretty much the last year a mother could choose [not] to have to work outside the home, the Democrats decided to head left by trading social programs for votes. It was then that I started my road to conservatism, Republican style; albeit the vast majority of Republican politicians still sacrifice values for power. May I also say that I am not a Republican, I am a conservative, but the Republican party is [currently] the only viable choice for true conservatives who believe in helping people to help themselves. Anyway, this time around Joe Schwarz was ignored by John McCain after serving as McCain's man in Michigan in his last go-round. As Joe reminisces about his city commission days and being the Mayor of Battle Creek, he harkens back to when he would comment to newly elected commissioners about people attending city commission meetings; "Commissioner, you see those people out there? They're not here because they like you. They're not here because they think you're doing a great job. They're here because they're pissed off about something." Well Joe, guess what? I think you've just summed up your attitude about politics and why you are more fit to be a Liberal than a Conservative. Joe, this is a Republic. People elect representatives to represent their best interests and when you don't, yes, they get "pissed off" and boy do you hate that, don't you Joe?

January 12, 2008 - Mit Romney, a winner in Michigan? If Mit Romney announces that because of his personal history with Michigan- because of his fathers’ history with Michigan- and just because it is the right thing to do… Announce that during the first week of his administration he will meet with Governor Granholm to start the process of bringing Michigan back to its original greatness... I think it would be a winner!

January 10, 2008 - Brit Hume tosses bomb at Republican debate... It was a dud! Brit Hume tried to get at least one debater to say they would have blown up the boxes thrown into the sea in front of our warships. None bit; all said the decision not to fire on the boxes or the enemy speed boats was correct... One has to wonder if those speed boats throwing boxes into the sea might just be a trial run for the real thing. Seems to me the commander of that fleet, after being told by the Iranians our ships would explode in two minutes, made the wrong decision. He should have blown up the boxes and the boats that dropped the boxes. It is time we start to treat people who threaten us in an adult manner.

January 9, 2008 - McCain ready to take Michigan with Dem help- again! Michigan Democrat strategists know that the long-term (larger picture) is what counts; the record of their dirty little achievements and the typical Republican inability to respond runs statewide. They sacrifice their own candidates and whatever semblance of morality, principles, or ethics they may have left. Liberal John McCain beat Bush in the 2000 Michigan Primary via Democrat cross-over voters. That same year Liberal Republican Joe Schwartz walloped his Democrat opponent in Michigan's 7th Congressional district leaving the Democrat opponent staring blankly in wondrous amazement as to what happened to her; etc., etc. If Mit Romney does pull off a win in Michigan it will be because the silent majority got off their butts to vote and/or the six-figure salaried union bosses at the Michigan Education Association forgot to rally their minions.

January 4, 2008 - John McCain, a leader? John McCain supported the Bush amnesty plan. The people said; "NO; continuing to allow illegal's into this country is bad"... John McCain now says that he heard the people and will [now] support the peoples wishes. A real "leader" has an instinct for what the people want long before the people are forced to react.  John McCain, a leader? I think not!

January 4, 2008 - One day after the Iowa Caucus. However dumb, the Iowa Caucus process showed that huge numbers of new voters came from college campus' throughout the state and voted Democrat, naturally. I say naturally because most everyone under 27 reacts with their feelings rather than reasoning with their brain. For people who are not completely nuts --- Do you really want college kids to decide the future of the country? Worse yet, do you really want college kids to have [the] deciding voice in protecting this country from the radical idiots in the world who say they want to kill you? Those who pride themselves in their reasoning ability had better vote in 2008, and they better start with their own state primary, because if they wait until November and the presidential elections their choice may well be the lesser of two evils!

December 28, 2007 - Hope springs eternal... A few weeks ago the Battle Creek Enquirers’ Eric J. Greene said that “hope is a choice for everyone”. He asked the question; “do you allow yourself to hope?” He said hope requires courage and trust. He also warned that hope requires cultivation and practice before it blossoms. He said hope spreads “like fingers through a lover's hair”. He said that “we can allow ourselves to hope for the things we cannot provide or perform with our own hands.” His words gave me pause for on so many Christmas Eve’s past, I had driven to the Lakeside Bakery on Columbia for a dozen or so of fresh, hot, hard rolls sprinkled with numerous little black seeds- they were always sold out.  This year with Eric J. Greene’s words in mind I hoped, and then I hoped some more. I hoped until I fell asleep. And so it was that I woke up that cold Monday morning hoping that this was my year; that it was going to happen. It did. I got my hard rolls; the exact ones I always wanted, but never before hoped for. Thank you Eric. Oh, one more thing; I got my butt out of bed an hour earlier.

August 10, 2007 - How do you think about things? Do you believe that which is consistent with what you already know to be true? Probably a good choice if you do. Interfering with this notion however is emotion. Emotion is a mental state that arises spontaneously rather than through conscious effort. The dictionary defines emotion as feeling that consists primarily of joy, sorrow, reverence, hate, and love; as such, a mental agitation or disturbance occurring during a thought process. It is not by any stretch of the imagination a complement to reasoning. However, emotion can be a valuable tool in “getting your way” or to the contrary, it can be the cause of “not getting your way”! Interacting with emotion is personality. There are studies referencing the connection between personality and emotion. The implication of which is that emotional reaction to a given issue can be intensified or lessened per your personality. But can a case be made to support the notion that emotion is merely a result of your personality. Hence what came first; the chicken or the egg? Are we born with personality tendencies that become influenced by our psychological environment. It is that psychological environment which becomes the molding force for our personality and the driving force as to how we react to our personality; emotion! Are Progressives and Liberals possessed with the same narcissistic personality ummmmmm, disorder? hmmmmmmmm... Check out some of your Liberal friends; it may prove interesting...

August 7, 2007 - Editorializing without editorializing... The B.C. Enquirer August 7 front-page enlightens us with the fact that President Bush signed a foreign eaves-dropping law that will play a large part in defending us from more 9/11 type attacks. This news is presented to us as though Bush and Republican law-makers are totally responsible for passing the bill. No where does it mention the 16 Democrat Senators who voted for it or the five no-show Democrat Senators, lead by Kerry and Murray, who failed to show up to vote. Wouldn't it be fun to read the Enquirer's version as to why the 16 broke party ranks and the 5 no-shows didn't show?

July 3, 2007 - Neo-[Con]servative... Although many believe the term to be associated with far right Conservatives, it is not necessarily the case. Chris Mathews and other  conservative haters use this term to describe well-known and respected Republicans when demeaning their actions or slyly accusing them of political behavior [they] don't agree with. The term is used by un-confessed partisan pundits like Mathews instead of more common terms such as "son-uv-a-bitch", "prick", and "asshole". They can't help themselves because it comes from their emotion, not their intellect; as we all know, emotion has no I.Q. Herein lies the difference between Liberals and Conservatives; unsupported emotion vs. reason...

March 27, 2007 - An editorial in the B.C. Enquirer once again proves the socialist/communist environment those on the Left wish for us all. Local police, not being able to handle all the frivolous 911 calls are changing the way they do business. The Enquirer boo hoos all over the place and closes with this-- "Are we willing to provide greater resources (i.e., pay more taxes ) to ensure that services remain available? Are there other organizations that can take on some of the duties that police often have performed (resolving domestic disputes, drug education, Neighborhood Watch, anti-crime campaigns, etc.)? I have the answer-- I think the Enquirer should raise the price of their ads and the cost of a paper and take this worthwhile community endeavor on themselves. It would be a delicious example of how much they care...

February 25, 2007 - Opining Michigan's new Merit Curriculum focus in a February 25th editorial, the Battle Creek, Michigan, Enquirer frets over student and parent ability to survive. In predictable condescending style, the Enquirer exhibits their Liberal/Progressive mind-set with comments such as; “It will be a scary proposition for most kids, no doubt,”… They then go on to give step-by-step parenting instructions. Guess what? I remember a time when kids naturally expected to read and write long before graduation. Of course this was a time before Liberals and vote-pandering Republicans decided that lowering standards in schools, police, firefighting, etc., was the politically correct thing to do. So now we must fix yet another failed Liberal social engineering program. Does the Enquirer jump on board, offering encouragement and positive insight? Not quite. Instead they express their fears; the same whiney attitude that got us in this mess in the first place.

February 21, 2007 - Libertarian influence is on the rise. From Boortz to Hannity to Limbaugh, comments are catching on with Conservatives. Related to all this, the 2008 Presidential race stands a good chance of being decided upon relative to how Libertarians vote... If they vote for Libertarian candidates Republicans will suffer further defeats. For most strict Libertarians such as Neal Boortz, this is ok because they perceive their vote as a message to Republicans; as such, having hopes that Republicans will "come around" in the long term. This makes sense but does not address short-term issues such as border security and its relevant impact on the safety of U.S. citizens now! In response to the "short-term", Libertarians will say that voting Republican in 2008 may well hand Democrats losses at the polls but do nothing to further Libertarian influence in the business of governing. The answer does not have to be an either/or scenario. There can be a both/and alternative where long-term and short-term concerns can be achieved. With regard to the Republican and Libertarian aspect of the situation, Republicans have the power; they have the majority. What Republicans don't have is a clear understanding of what it is to be a run-of-the-mill Libertarian. They tend to believe Libertarian values are in direct opposition to their own- many liken Libertarian to Liberal, thus sacrificing Libertarian inclusion. There is a common focus and a resolution to all this; adults with a sense of purpose other than their own personal power can bring enough of both entities together to win in 2008. Will they?

November 8, 2006 - It's over! Republican Politicians, nation-wide, took it on the chin this election cycle and didn't see it coming. One exception to this being Tim Walberg in Michigan's 7th Congressional District. Why did Tim Walberg win over your typical Democratic Liberal opponent? To answer this question one must ask one more question; Why did Tim Walberg beat out 1st term Republican incumbent Joe Schwarz in the primary? Joe Schwarz slipped into office two years ago, with a huge helping hand from the Michigan Education Association, by beating out Tim Walberg and others in the primary. Conservatives in the Seventh District didn't like it; they were already familiar with Joe Schwarz. Tim Walberg echoed the same conservative message this time as he did two years ago; this time conservatives were prepared and came out to vote. He beat his Democratic opponent with his conservative message and that is that; or is it? Maybe not, because what Tim Walberg must learn is that conservatives, unlike Liberals, expect their representative to keep their word... Nation-wide, Democratic candidates swept into office largely because they talked like conservatives while Republican politicians, fearing they would lose, were talking like Democrats! We Conservatives have different values than our Liberal counterparts; we do not accept a lie "for the greater good"... We expect a certain behavior and if we don't get it we throw them to the wolves; and that my friends is the essence of conservative values... So, Tim Walberg, go to Washington; do your thing... In two years voters will decide how you did; not you!

October 23, 2006 - Politics aside; DeVos is a clear choice... Dick DeVos clearly is a highly accomplished business person; I am very jealous of his success... Dick DeVos clearly is very rich; I am jealous of his wealth... Dick DeVos clearly has the respect of prominent business leaders around the world; I am jealous of his power and influence... Of these three characteristics, which would Dick DeVos deem the most important? Right you are; "respect" wins hands down! With respect, and the power and influence that comes with it, you can recover from anything... How much respect would Dick DeVos have if he were to fail as Governor of Michigan? Dick DeVos would be a very lonesome man if all he had were a successful past and lots of money! Failing as Governor of Michigan would assure this scenario... Relative to Michigan's disgraceful state of the state, Detroit News' Nolan Finley wrote an article in March of 2006, entitled; "What would John [Engler] do?"...  Finley talks about the decisions Engler made throughout his tenure as Governor that brought Michigan back from the depths to a thriving state, only to be demonized by Granholm Democrats in the midst of their failure to offer a plan to recover from the auto industry downhill slide. The lesson Dick DeVos gets from this is that long term, he can't win even he does win! So why is he running for governor? After eating and pondering and pondering and eating, I asked my wife; "why is Dick DeVos running for Governor"? Without hesitation she said; "he obviously cares about Michigan".  I didn't respond, I just started to type... The answer was simple and right there in front of me all the time! With that said, is the question for each of us as we enter the voting booth;  Do I care about Michigan?

October 9, 2006 - Governor Granholm's plan for Michigan a bonanza for other states, but not Michigan... Governor Jennifer G. has been telling us that she has spent the entire time she's been in office laying the groundwork for Michigan to become an educational paradise; a place where all can acquire the tools they need to get a job in tomorrow's world. In fact she has staked her upcoming re-election bid on it... In  the October 8 edition of the Battle Creek Enquirer an AP article reported; "Recruiters from more than a dozen employers and officials from the local (State of Wyoming) economic development organization are heading back to Michigan next week in an effort to lure more workers to Wyoming." This will be the third trip to Michigan for some Wyoming State County officials, setting up job fairs in various cities across Michigan. So. If Governor J.G. of Michigan is really spending a ton of Michigan tax dollars to educate more people to fill jobs for Michigan employers (who are not yet located in Michigan) she better crank it up a notch 'cause it looks like Michigan will have to help out 49 other states first...
