Political Strategic Planning in Michigan: Democrats; 3 Republicans; 0
With no competition for their candidate, I’m told that Democratic strategists facilitated a primary cross-over vote in the 2004 Presidential Democratic Primary … Union’s responded; it worked- John McCain took Michigan. Wait, there’s more…
Thinking there was little or no chance for a Democrat to fill the 7th Congressional House seat left vacant by retiring Nick Smith, Democratic strategists, in the same manner, engineered another [primary] cross-over vote for Republican centrist Joe Schwarz. 90,672 total votes were cast; only 19% or 17,205 voted for the Democratic candidate. I hear that local Dems were not all happy with what went on, thinking it was not fair to Dem candidates vying for their party’s nod. And…
In this off year, 2005, Dem strategists are still hard at work… In Battle Creek, voters thought the [non-partisan] city commission elections would be just another typical election; not so! Calhoun County Democratic money went to fund personal attack ads against candidates competing with Ryan Hersha. Is Hersha being groomed for future state office? Calhoun County Democrats living outside the city haven’t raised a stink about their money going into city politics; guess they’re ok with it!
Republican response to any of this… So far, I haven’t heard anything!
