Holy Moly Batman; we need to go help that poor little girl in the Michigan Governor’s office… The Muskegon Chronicle says she’s up against mean old Dick DeVos and the dirty rotten Republican majority in the Michigan legislature. She’s had to “grind out a grudging” economic package from a bunch of politicians who “want[s] to see her fail”.
Next year, “it will get worse”. Batman, “Dick DeVos, certainly the most politically far right candidate for the top post in modern times” will slap her silly if we don’t help.
Now Batman, I don’t know if all this is true or not since I have never heard of Dick DeVos holding a public office, but if the Muskegon Chronicle is saying it, it must be so… They said he also has a “war chest”- ye gads! I wonder if the Governor has one…
Batman, I don’t know about you, but this little angel may need our help if her “office is the only bulwark against a complete GOP sweep of state government”… I’m gonna call Mary Mapes for help!

No, this is not funny! This is arguably one of the first salvos from a hateful media outlet. The newspaper is obviously staffed by future mainstream media wanna-be’s; you can tell from the intellectual flavor of the writing. It’s nice they have staked out their position early.
Hint… There is one thing you will always find that is common with these types - they will always accuse their opposition of doing exactly what they themselves do... Watch ‘em; you’ll see…

Editorial
It's tough to share Granholm's optimism
It took almost a year for Gov. Jennifer Granholm to grind out a grudging economic incentive package from this dug-in Legislature, which wants only to see her fail. We have no expectations 2006 will be any different, despite the governor's recently expressed optimism about the forthcoming year.
If anything, it will be worse. The Democratic governor's opponents, who are in the majority in both the House and Senate, are rallying behind GOP gubernatorial nominee Dick DeVos, certainly the most politically far right candidate for the top post in modern times. Ex-Gov. John Engler is a comparative moderate, especially on the social and educational issues DeVos will surely press if elected.
Businessman DeVos, who campaign war chest overflows thanks to his own personal fortune, can be expected to fight a bitter battle against the isolated Granholm, whose office is the only bulwark against a complete GOP sweep of state government, though Granholm is no slouch in the funds-raising department, either.
As we see it, this suggests the mud pit will remain filled to the brim until the day after the 2006 elections are decided, leaving little expectation for any notable achievements, save negative ones.
