Atlas Shrugged- it's all coming true!!

Ayn Rand started jotting down notes on her novel, Atlas Shrugged, in 1946. The battles between European style socialism and the “mean and selfish rich”, the evil relationships between liberal/progressive politicians, unions, the poor, the ignorant and the selfish are nowhere better told than in this 1957 philosophical thriller, the analogy to which has come true with the election of President Obama.

In startling realization to present day, the author takes you into the minds of socially guilt-laden socialists as they consume political power and privilege with the very same strategies and tactics employed by Obama, his Czars, the willing Democrat Party, media, and the indoctrination of children from kindergarten thru college today.

Interestingly, this novel was required reading into the 1960’s at many of the nations universities. It was required reading because it made you wonder; it made you think for yourself. Current day education is fueled by telling children what to think, not how to think!

As educational institutions became more entrenched with liberals and/or progressives, books like this were thrown in the trash heap of unspoken history.

As I travel thru this 1200 page saga, I’ll share comments from readers of the book and startling comparisons to the world today, here are two!

       Quotes from Atlas Shrugged…
      * With the United States being the last nation in the world to succumb completely to socialism, the entire world has now fallen into economic shambles. Caught up in a “no win” situation of buying votes with outlandish wage increases to unions and increasing numbers going on welfare, a government “official” using regulatory powers as a gun to the heads of industry, makes the case to [again] raise union wages. “There are almost a million members in the railway unions. With families, dependents and poor relatives---and who hasn’t got poor relatives these days?--- it amounts to about five million votes”

      * A government official opposing a particular industry’s need to raise prices, gives the board of directors a [not so] veiled threat, putting them in a [no win]
situation  – “Well, my thought is that if you granted the unions’ wage raises--- we might drop the question of cutting the rates, for the time
      being.”

Why is there a Tea Party, and what’s it all about?     Who is John Galt!
